Dr Giuseppe Femia completed his medical degree from the University of Sydney with honours before pursuing cardiology specialist training at Wollongong and Liverpool Hospitals. Subsequently, he undertook an additional three years of subspecialty fellowship training at Liverpool Hospital in the areas of interventional cardiology and cardiac device implantation. His PhD in cardiovascular medicine focused on novel techniques for the investigation of conditions associated with sudden cardiac death, undertaken at the University of Sydney.

In addition to his subspecialist training, Dr Femia is accredited with a level III fellowship from the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, enabling him to contribute to the equitable access of cardiac MRI and improved health outcomes. 

Dr Femia consults fluently in English and Italian.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Femia is passionate about teaching, and holds the position of conjoint lecturer and PhD supervisor at the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, and Western Sydney University. He has also made significant academic contributions through his research, with several peer-reviewed papers published in leading medical journals. 

Dr Femia is currently continuing to pursue his interest in cardiac magnetic resonance with a postdoctoral research fellowship under the mentorship of world leaders in the field.

Outside of work

Dr Femia has a passion for his Italian-Canadian cultural history, and enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction.
