Dr Avedis Ekmejian is a general and interventional (procedural) cardiologist who prides himself on the highest quality, evidence-based, compassionate care. He is appointed as a cardiologist at Royal North Shore and North Shore Private Hospitals, where he has full admitting and procedural privileges, offering patients access to the most cutting-edge cardiac services if required.
He has several years of experience as a cardiologist and is confident managing all aspects of cardiology, with particular expertise in coronary artery disease and chest pain assessment/treatment. While he is trained in more invasive techniques to treat severe cardiac disease, Dr Ekmejian also advocates for preventative care, which he imparts to his patients.
Dr Ekmejian has undergone substantial training to provide his patients the best care. In addition to his medical degree, he has obtained a Master of Science from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD through the University of Sydney under the supervision of Professor Ravinay Bhindi and Dr Michael Ward. His rigorous clinical training has been across multiple tertiary hospitals in NSW, including sub-specialist training in interventional cardiology at Royal North Shore Hospital over 2 years.
In addition to his clinical duties, Dr Ekmejian holds several teaching, research and leadership roles, including a Senior Lecturer role at the University of Sydney, co-leading a nationwide research trial, and is an Associate Editor of Australia’s premier cardiac journal, Heart Lung and Circulation.
